Ewan McGregor and Stanley Tucci have joined the cast of Disney's live-action Beauty and the Beast with Emma Watson and Dan Stevens.
There's even more exciting casting news for Disney's live-action Beauty and the Beast: Ewan McGregor and Stanley Tucci are slated to join the film's star-studded lineup.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, McGregor is in final negotiations to portray the essential role of Lumiere, the dynamic and welcoming maître d' of the enchanted castle. Voiced by Jerry Orbach in the 1991 animated version, Lumiere takes the form of a candelabra and is in many ways the ring leader of all the servants turned objects (and led them in song for the amazing "Be Our Guest" number). Singing shouldn't be a problem for McGregor as he proved his vocal chops in Moulin Rouge.
Tucci has reportedly signed on to portray a new character in the film called Cadenza, the grand piano.
These are just two new additions to an already stunning cast that includes Emma Watson as Belle, Dan Stevens as the Beast, Luke Evans as Gaston, Kevin Kline as Maurice, and Josh Gas as Gaston's henchman, LeFou. Plus, Emma Thompson is set to portray the role of Mrs. Potts, Sir Ian McKellan will play Cogsworth, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw will take on Plumette the feather duster. The film is set to hit theaters in 2017.
