Rihanna made her triumphant return to the 2021 Met gala on Monday, three years after her last show-stopping appearance at the most exclusive party on the planet. She came with a beanie, a boyfriend, and a voluminous structured gown that could double as a parka. But Riri's surprises for the evening weren't confined to the Met's steps.
After the gala, the music/beauty/fashion mogul hosted a fête of her own, and it came with a fitting outfit change. Rihanna was photographed outside her after-party wearing a cropped black t-shirt, an embellished roaring '20s-esque headwrap encasing her braids and loose curls, and a fully sheer floor-sweeping maxiskirt (which the lingerie designer paired with a black thong). The evening's MVP accessorized with layered necklaces, a series of glittering rings and bracelets, black sandals with bedazzled ankle straps, and even a furry bling-fringed clutch.
Thank Go—I mean, Rihanna, that we won't have to wait an entire year to see the performer's next Met moment. The 2022 gala will be returning to its traditional first Monday in May date: May 2, 2022.
