The Splurge is our new weekly column dedicated to expensive beauty products that are actually worth it. This week, why we're rebuying RAINCRY's Large Detangling Paddle Hairbrush, despite the $75 price tag.

Before I was familiarized with Brazilian waxes, detangling my hair was the most painful part of my beauty routine. As a child, my mom would sit me down and spend 15 minutes getting the knots out of my almost waist-length, extremely thick hair. Some tangles were so intense, I would get shivers down my spine as she roughly pulled at the tangles with a hairbrush.

Fast forward 25 years later, and I still hate brushing my hair. In fact, I only run a brush through it post-wash to re-part it out of necessity. From drugstore to cult-favorite brushes, I've tried a ton of detanglers and none of them have made brushing my hair very pleasant.

However, I've finally found an exception to all of the detangling brushes that have made brushing my hair more painful than my period cramps. RAINCRY is a stylist-founded line that handcrafts its brushes in France. I first discovered the brand this spring when it launched styling products.

Included in RAINCRY's tool collection is the Large Detangling Paddle Hairbrush, aka the only brush that has made detangling my hair a pain-free experience. The paddle is designed to be gentle on your hair, causing minimal breakage when brushing it. This is in thanks to flexible metal bristles and a cushioned base that basically acts like a built-in scalp massager. The brush is for all hair types and can be used on both damp and dry hair.

While not as pricey, as Mason Pearson's holy grail brushes, RAINCRY's detangler is still a cool $75. But, it's 120% worth the price. I was able to detangle my hair in record time because it got every knot out in a single pass. Plus, the paddle size lets you work in large sections. Most importantly, getting it through my thick, wet hair didn't hurt. At. All. When I was done, there was barely any hair caught between the bristles — a sign of minimal damage.

If you're going to invest in any hair brush make it this one. Hell, if I lose or somehow break mine, I would repurchase it ASAP. I guess this means I don't completely hate brushing my hair anymore.
